The NAM
Convention 2002, held this
year in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was
a proverbial success according to
many of its attendees (myself included).
For those of you who have never attended
a NAM convention, in their own words,
'The NAM Conventions have been an
annual opportunity to gather together
for spiritual renewal, education,
and socializing.' To others, it's
four days of virtual freedom from
immediate elders, alcohol restriction,
and an opportunity to find other Lebanese
people to mix and mingle with (aka,
find a wife). Like any large event,
there are cliques and sub groups that
form; some people have a blast and
some are simply overwhelmed by what's
going on. Overall, it's a chance for
people of a like culture to gather
in one place every year, stay up till
ungodly hours of the night, drink
and be merry, and catch up with old
friends and make some new ones (aka,
find a husband). Yalla...
